I’m Kat. I spent over a decade building, running and growing a business, leading a team through the decisions that come with it. That experience shapes how I work with other business owners: taking time to understand the business and the person behind it, then helping them decide what to do next.

Based in Nottingham. I work in person in and around Nottingham, and online anywhere in the UK.

Why North of Linear exists

You can’t understand a business without understanding the person running it.

Owner-led businesses are built around someone: their skills, their judgement, their life and their limits. So that’s where I start.

Very often, the way you think and work is part of what customers are buying. When you see that, questions about pricing, workload, offers and growth start to look different.

North of Linear exists to help owners see all of that together, question what they’ve assumed, and decide what will actually work for them. That might mean growth. It might mean doing less, or doing it differently.

Some people call what I do business coaching, others consultancy. Either way, it starts with understanding you and your business.

How I work

Think first. Talk second.

I don’t think the best answers come from putting someone on the spot. So we start with a short, free call. Then you share the situation in whatever way suits you, and I take time to understand it before we dig in.

I tend to think in connections rather than straight lines, which is where the name comes from. The thinking is allowed to wander. What you get from it is clear, practical and written down.

I’ll ask a lot of questions, and I’ll sometimes challenge what you’re treating as fact. I do that to make sure we’re solving the right problem.
